Beautiful, Unique Custom
I've been playing guitar since the late 70's, I've had more guitars than I can count, but I've always favored the Les Paul. Especially the Custom. I've had good ones and bad ones. I bought this Blackback at my local G.C. a few weeks ago, and it's a good one. A really good one. First of all, the looks. It's just beautiful. The pictures here don't do it justice. It played pretty well off the wall, but I still did an extensive setup on it. Which I would do on any guitar. The neck on this guitar feels great, the nut was cut very well, the fretwork was good, a solid B+ on them. The tuners hold great. The action was a little high and the neck needed a tiny bit of relief added. The fretboard was also dry. All easy fixes and a part of any good setup. What isn't listed here are the pots, they are not CTS pots, but they work very well. AND they're push/pull volume pots for coil splitting. So, that's something to know. Genuine CTS pots are an easy, affordable upgrade though. I happened to get my Blackback on sale, but would have gladly paid full price for this beauty. I've had many Epiphones over the years, the majority of which felt more like toys than professional instruments. This is the third Les Paul I've purchased from the new "Inspired by Gibson" line, and it seems that Epiphone is now taking themselves seriously. The Les Paul Standard 50's, the Les Paul Custom Silverburst, and now this Blackback.I wouldn't hesitate to gig with any of them. They're all great instruments. This one, though, is my favorite. If you're on the fence, it's a great price on a great guitar.

One of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen.
Out the box I was still amazed at just how beautiful it was.During tuning and after there is a terrible fret buzz from frets 1,2 & 3 unplayable. Pick up toggle switch has static. Bringing it back tomorrow. I am very sad 1st time ever experienced this. Very discouraging my 1st Epiphone

I wasn't even looking for one, but I was at GC and this caught my eye. I already have an LTD les paul style, but this is more classic rock and not as metal. I recently converted to team tube, and this pairs with my Bugera amp VERY well. It was almost perfectly set up. My big complaint, if you can call it that, is that one of the volume knobs is out of line with the other 3. It's still a brand new guitar so it needs a more detailed setup and to be played in a little bit, but that's normal and part of the fun imo. I'll probably never own a Gibson but this is as much of one as I'll ever need.

About 10 years ago I was gifted my first fender acoustic. Practiced on and off but hated feeling like I had to hug my guitar to play it. Friend got me taking practice seriously on his Jackson & he even bought an ESP while I was visiting. Spent a couple days browsing before stumbling on this & it just called to me. As soon as I had the extra cash, I ran to the store & bought it. You just can't not look at this thing. It's immaculate. The subtle off white coloring, the tasteful thickness of it. I realized after buying it it's supposed to be a Tuxedo finish from a 76 Gibson. Don Dokken played one.
Almost perfect

I love everything about how this thing plays. Only issue I have, and for the price it's not worth being upset about. The paint at the neck joint is flawed. The rest of the thing is perfect, set up out of the box was fairly spot on.
Love it!

Great out of the box. Have to smoothen the edges of the frets, few were sharp. Action and intonation were spot on. Love the antique Ivory color. Pick ups were great! I love the ebony fretboard. I may swap to a better locking tuners later on.
