Why use ELIXIR Strings

Description
Specially developed based on in-depth feedback from more than a thousand bass players just like you, Elixir Strings' tailor-made selection of bass strings proudly includes nickel-plated and stainless steel construction options, four-, five- and six-string sets, long and extra-long scales, and virtually every gauge range you could possibly need. All with their innovative string coating technology. And unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings.
Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?
Premium by design, these electric bass guitar strings constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire boast a rich, rounded tone with incredible clarity and a heavy mid-range presence. Meanwhile, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating, redesigned specifically for bass guitars, allows a smooth, natural feel that also enhances grip and reduces finger squeak.
For a brighter bass tone, try Elixir Strings' Stainless Steel Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating.
Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings.

Awesome
These strings are great. I'm actually surprised because these strings came with my Schecter Omen-4 bass! I figured they would just throw on some horrible strings. But no, they threw on some of the most expensive strings. I'm sure I won't need new strings anytime soon.

dont like the coating
the only reason i got these string was because they came with my ibanez sr 506 . let me tell you... they feel good for awhile. but for some reason the coating came off...leaving my strings kind of sticky in certain areas. this is no isolated incident either. i have had the same thing happen to me two times before this. weird. but maybe i just got duds. and they do last a very long time. tone kind is kind of lacking though.

I prefer stainless steel roundwound strings to get that John Entwistle P-bass tone. I used to use uncoated bass strings and the bottom string would go dead in a matter of weeks. Elixirs just last and last. Eventually the pick scrapes away the coating and I need a new set, but they never lose their tone. I only wish Gore would make a 4-string set with a bigger bottom string, to better accommodate tuning down. Until then, I'll keep using the medium nanoweb set. #sweepstakes

I have been using Elixir strings for a long time. I have found these strings to consistently provide good sound quality for a long time. I consider myself a semi professional, playing 4 to 6 times a month.
