Charvel® Pro-Mod San Dimas® PJ IV & V Bass

Description
The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV is designed for the seasoned player who demands more from their instrument. Combining modern appointments with throwback Charvel DNA, this 4-string bass features a sleek alder body inspired by the original Charvel San Dimas basses of the late 1970s, a super-thin bolt-on speed neck with graphite reinforcement and a maple fingerboard with rolled edges for comfortable playing, even at faster tempos. The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV, also features the powerhouse voice of DiMarzio pickups—a Model JTM at the bridge for well-rounded punch and a Model P® in the middle for warm and fat tone with a mid-range growl when pushed.
Versatile Electronics Shape Your Tone
Versatile electronics on the Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV include master volume, pickup blend and active 3-band active EQ, allowing you to shape your tone to perfection. Roll off the highs or boost the low-mids for extra growl—this bass can do it all.
A Bridge and Nut for Rock-Solid Stability
The Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV features a Charvel HiMassTM bridge and Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut that combine for stellar tuning stability, improved note punch, and enhanced sustain. Groove hard without worrying about going out of tune.
Iconic Styling with Modern Playability
While the Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV has a familiar feel, its compound radius caramelized maple fingerboard—which gradually flattens from nut to heel for fast, smooth playing—and jumbo frets make shredding a breeze. The deeper cutaway also provides effortless upper-register access. This combination of old-school esthetics and contemporary appointments results in an instrument that looks as good as it plays.

I play a lot of hammer ones, tapping and finger techniques. The jumbo frets and neck feel of this bass are nicer than anything else I've played for years. I like the ability to run the pickups passive, I think these are made in the same factory as MIM Fenders, but honestly, the finish and feel is better than most Fenders I've played. The updated bridge and active electronics along with the glow in the dark fret markers, sparkle paint, what else do you want?

After buying my first one I knew I needed more. I now own 3. the pre-amp is a little too high gain for the pickups but sounds great with lower output pickups.

Insanely comfortable and versatile Holy cow! The Charvel Pro Mod San Dimas Bass PJ IV feels great and sounds amazing. I know Charvel has a history of shredding, but the Pro Mod series is loaded with versatile instruments that can be used for anything (e.g., blues, rock, jazz, pop, etc.). My bass is light (9 lbs.), well-balanced standing and sitting, and super comfortable in every way. I can't say enough about the roasted maple neck with rolled fingerboard edges! It feels like I'm playing on silk. The heel-mounted truss rod wheel makes adjusting the truss rod quick and effortless. The DiMarzio pickups are powerful and punchy. The three-band active EQ gives me plenty of tone sculpting options. I really appreciate the ability to toggle between active and passive modes. I have only one suggestion for Charvel: 1) Please add stainless steel frets! A number of guitars and some basses in this price range have them. SS frets feel great and last forever.
