Yamaha MG12XU 12-Channel Mixer A Must for Home Recording
The Yamaha MG12XU 12-Channel Mixer is superb! The pre-amp is quiet as a mouse. The slider controls are smooth. Its interface with a computer is flawless.

Competent for PA use, piece of junk for PC audio.
I used this for a year as a PA mixer and it was great. Then I tried to use it to run my music catalogue through it via a new PC and it repeatedly shorted out mid song. Do not buy this if you have to depend on it live.

I have used this mixer consistently in karaoke shows over the last 5 years. I have owned three of them and have had great luck with each one. Lots of good effects and simple to use. The slider controls are superior to twist knobs when you have to make adjustments fast to counter feedback events.

We use this mixer to combine a large number of instruments for a percussion show. It has worked flawlessly and is easy to use. It has more features than I realized when I bought it.

I bought this wanting a small analog mixer to set up quickly for rehearsals or smaller acoustic. This works perfect. I still have my Midas m32 and a couple x32's, but this is my new go to for smaller acoustic gigs and to set up quickly at home for rehearsal. Highly recommended if you are also looking for a small analog mixer. Sounds great for what it is.

One is used for collaboration in the parsonage and the other in our sanctuary. Very satisfied.
The dials are plasticky

I love everything about this mixer except the dials and switches are on the flimsy side. I'd pay $50 more for those dials to be as hardy as the chassis. It's everything you could want in a reliable, easy to use, analogue mixer.

would you choose this over a Mackie profx16v2 if you were doing a karaoke show ? the reason I'm asking is that I have the Mackie just thinking a 16 channel is a bit over kill
The extra channels wouldn't be a problem. It's not worth buying another board if you already own the Mackie. It's only 4 channels difference
