Playing guitar in a great sounding room is one of the most inspiring and engaging playing experiences imaginable – far more enjoyable than in a dry-sounding room like a lounge, office, den, or bedroom. Yamaha’s FS-TA TransAcoustic Concert acoustic-electric guitar intuitively recreates the incredible experience of playing in a rich, live room without needing any external amplification or effects. All you need is the guitar itself.

Whether you’re practicing, writing, recording or just playing for fun, the Yamaha FS-TA TransAcoustic Concert will inspire your creativity with built-in Hall or Room Reverb and Chorus you can mix and adjust for just the right sound you're looking for.

If you don't warn your listeners, they'll swear you've got some wireless doodad hidden somewhere or an amp up your sleeve, but it's actually Yamaha's innovative actuator installed on the inner surface of the guitar back vibrating in response to the vibrations of the strings. These vibrations are then conveyed to the body of the guitar, and out into the air in and around the guitar body, giving you authentic reverb and chorus effects from inside the body.

The FS-TA TransAcoustic's controls are conveniently located where a normal preamp is found and it's three simple knobs make it easy to adjust how much of an effect you add to the TransAcoustic's naturally bright tone. The three controls include Chorus, Reverb Control (Room/Hall), TA Switch/Line Out Volume Control. Yep, that's right, if you really want to plug in for a clean recording, the FS-TA offers you that as well.

Body Design
The body of Yamaha's FS-TA is all-mahogany based on the Yamaha's L-series with a modified non-scalloped bracing design that retains the L-series' characteristic bright tone while enhancing the low end. The Sitka spruce top is treated with Yamaha's exclusive A.R.E. process so you get an instrument full of rich, quality, broken-in tone as if it's been your go-to guitar for years.

The FS-TA also features a straighter neck taper with hand-rolled fingerboard edges to give you hours and hours of comfortable, stress-free playing experience. The 5-ply neck design featured in all TransAcoustic guitars is constructed of rosewood and mahogany plies with a double-action adjustable rod, creating a strong, stable neck that resists warping.

Once you’ve experienced the FS-TA, you’ll never want to play another acoustic guitar again.

Beautiful sounding red guitar!

I have been playing the guitar for about 6 months. My first purchase was a Taylor Baby BT1. But I have wanted a red guitar since I started and I fell in love with this Yamaha. I would have purchased it without the effects box inside, but it blew my mind when I tried it! I love my little Baby Taylor, but the Yamaha has a beautiful rich bass warm sound. Soooo smooth and sexy. I am still getting used to the longer neck and larger frets, but in time I will get it. I am a small woman - 5ft, and this guitar is the perfect size for my little frame. I'm still a beginner, but no doubt I will be able to play it beautifully. I plugged it into my practice amp and it sounds great. The hall / room reverb effects are stunning! It's so nice that I can do that without using a DAW. I'm not a fan of the chorus effect, but I'm sure some folks will enjoy it. It takes AA batteries. Really, my only concern is what happens if the batteries get battery acid in there? It would be difficult to clean out. Will it mess up the wiring?

I want to love this guitar but...

I love the transacoustic feature, the reverb and chorus are amazing But I cannot keep this thing in tune for the life of me And if that wasn't bad enough, the gear ratio on the machine pegs is ridiculously high. It jumps from flat to sharp and vice versa with the slightest twist of the peg Also intonation is very poor The effects almost cover it up but not quite If I could get the intonation and tuning in order this would be the ultimate camping/beach guitar, laminates for durability and great reverb and chorus no matter where you are Sadly and brokenhearted, this one must to go back I will try one more and if it's the same I'll spring for the LSTA... I love the concept that much

A few years ago, I saw a video demo of the Transacoustic guitars and was fascinated. I saw one in my local GC and had to try it out. Long story short, I left with the guitar 30 minutes later and I am SO glad I did! First of all, both playability and build quality is amazing! Without the effects, the guitar already sounds beautiful. With the added on board reverb and chorus, this takes my busking to new levels! Thank you to Yamaha for creating such a great instrument and thank you to the folks at Guitar Center in Katy Texas for showing me the guitar and for all of your help in purchasing and having it set up! Finally, I've played for over 40 years now and have owned many guitars, including Taylors, Martins, Gretsch and this is bay far my favorite guitar yet!

  • Great bang for buck guitar!

This guitar sounds great out the box but it really shines when you turn on the built in reverb. It sounds amazing and the size of it is also perfect to play.

I've played the Yamaha AC1M for years, and this one puts it to shame. Bright and full of body. Loud and articulate. Perfect for strumming and fingerpicking. And then when engaging the effects, it just makes it even sweeter.

Do any TransAcoustic Yamahas come with a 1.75" or 1.8" nut width?
That little bit of extra finger room on my Seagull Amber Trail and my two Ibanez ArtWoods have me spoiled.
