    I bought this to replace my CAD kick drum mic. After a couple of years struggling with the CAD, I decided I wasn't going to get the sound I was after with something cheap. It was between this and a D6. While the Audix sounds amazing, this took it in versatility (in my opinion). I'll be recording bass amps too, so having something not so tailored to just a kick drum was inviting. So, I took a chance with this and couldn't be happier. Right out of the box, it sounded great. So much so, that it brought a smile to my face. Low end thump, beater attack, all with about 30 seconds of placement invested. The feel of this thing is top notch as well. All metal enclosure, good weight in the hand, but not too much for a mic stand to handle. Sennheiser did a great job with this.

    Gigged this and another well known kick mic and this one had the bottom end and the thump of the beater nailed. Complements from crowd on the sound so that did it for me.

    I'm an engineer by trade and have been tickling the skins for 32 years (studio work, live performance, hobby). This microphone is the very best I've ever used for recording or live performance. It's the only one I recommend.
