Mark Agnesi Talks About SG Special Model

Art Menezes Demos The SG Special

Description
The Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar in vintage cherry is a legend reimagined for today's players. Since 1961, the SG has shaped the sound of rock music and defined generations of guitar legends. Now Gibson USA introduces the early 60s style SG Special, honoring the iconic SG Specials of the past with the versatile performance that modern musicians demand.
P-90 Pickups Provide Classic Rock Tone
The SG Special is loaded with two P-90 pickups, acclaimed for their warm, crunchy tone that shaped the sound of rock and roll. These pickups deliver a fat, snarling tone when overdriven and a smooth, sweet sound when played clean. With a three-way toggle switch, you can select the bridge pickup, neck pickup or both pickups together for a range of vintage rock tones.
Fast, Low-Action Neck Inspires Effortless Playing
The SG Special features Gibson's SlimTaper neck profile, a fast, comfortable shape that has powered some of the quickest guitars in rock history. The glued-in mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard provide a slick playing feel with low action. The slim, lightweight mahogany body is carefully balanced for playing comfort, with an iconic double-cutaway shape for easy access to the upper frets.
Timeless Looks, Modern Versatility
While the SG Special has the vibe of a well-loved vintage instrument, it provides the versatility demanded by today's guitarists. A compensated wraparound bridge offers solid sustain and precise intonation. Vintage-style deluxe tuners provide smooth, accurate tuning. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish and nickel-plated hardware capture the iconic appearance of '60s Gibson guitars. Stripped down and focused on tone, the SG Special lets you forge your own rock legacy at an affordable price.
Additional Features
The SG Special also includes an owner's manual, truss rod wrench and Gibson's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Order your SG Special today and experience a rock icon reborn for modern players.

Great guitar, lighter than I expected

There were three surprises when I got this, its light, its thin, and the neck is a little bit longer than other guitars. I was on a P90 kick when I got this and the pickups definitely do not disappoint. I appreciate the volume and tone controls for each pickup. I am a clean tone player so I am not using this to play Sabbath (though I do). This guitar has a fantastic clean guitar tone. I don't like Gibsons - this is my second Gibson and the first one I traded away. This one I will keep - Gibson definitely got the P90s right.
Great guitar, great p90 tone

Great rock guitar, but the detailed tone from the p90 definitely has other uses aside from rock.

Great guitar!!! Definitely has that P-90 attack and snarl. Sounds great clean, and with overdrive. The controls on mine work great. Volume and tone is smooth and even, 10-0. I like my string action nice and low with just a tad of neck relief. I had no issues setting this one up just the way I like it, and with no string buzz. The wraparound compensated bridge was easy to adjust and surprisingly, the intonation is great. The reason for the 4 stars is due to cosmetics. The first one I ordered had unacceptable defects in the body wood which include two quarter sized indentations right by the bridge, a very sloppy neck joint where the sides of the fingerboard meets the body, and sloppy binding. Also, the fingerboard was stained which leaves your fingertips black after just a few minutes of play. My replacement was not perfect, but much better. Regardless, both guitars played and sounded great.

Can't understand why this is a level 2 product. Can't find anything blemished. I've bought several guitars from Musician's Friend including a Gibson L5 that was flawed though not sold as such but this instrument seems perfect. However it's hard to believe it was plek'd- I set it up myself & I will be replacing the impossible to fine tune bridge. But that was no surprise, inspire of the hype I knew it was what it is- Gibson's cheap shortcut to keep exorbitant price down. The discounted amount for the supposed blemish compelled me to buy.
I LOVE it!

I have every Humbucker Gibson; Les Paul, 335, SG, Firebird.. The P-90 sound is my favorite. It is so dynamically responsive to touch and playing degrees. It has such a clarity that Humbuckers just don't deliver. Clean, bell like arpeggiation to soaring, cutting leads.. This guitar has it. I put 8's on it and lowered the action a bit.. Now it's creamy and dreamy to play.
Amazing tone, looks, and build!

I fell in love with this guitar immediately. Slim, fast neck. Superb cleans, vicious dirt tones. Rhythm/lead, Rock/Blues, heck, even Country tones found in it. Pickups are quiet, and responsive to changes in volume and tone control manipulations on the guitar. All in all, a classic guitar

Is it possible to see a picture of sparkling burgundy SG Special blemish? And what special financing is offered?
Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the guitars play ability. You would just need to be approved for the Guitar Center Gear card in order to make monthly payments.
