Fender

collapse expand iconDescription

Combining powerful onboard electronics—including a built-in tuner—with great tone and easy playability, the CD-60SCE is ideal for beginning to intermediate level players who are ready to plug in. Featuring a Venetian-cutaway body for easy upper-fret access, a solid spruce top for increased volume and crisp sound, easy-to-play neck, mahogany back and sides, the CD-60SCE is perfect for the couch, the campfire or the coffeehouse—anywhere you want classic Fender playability and sound.

Top Wood
Spruce is the standard modern tonewood for fashioning the tops of acoustic guitars and other acoustic instruments—few woods can beat its strength, brightness and dynamic range, and it responds well to any acoustic playing style, from hard strumming to fast flatpicking to delicate fingerpicking.

Easy-To-Play
With it's comfortably rolled fingerboard edges, this instrument's neck creates an incredibly comfortable fret-hand feel that's ideal for beginning players or experienced pros alike.

Electronics
A Fishman pickup/preamp system adds peerless amplified performance with a variety of onboard controls to your acoustic instrument without compromising its pure, rich and resonant tone. The built-in tuner is conveniently placed right where you can see it, making it easy to keep your intonation right on the money.

The exact combination of tone & versatiliy I was seeking

I started learning electric guitar about 3 years ago, and have improved a lot with persistent practice. When I decided it was time to buy an acoustic, all the experienced players I talked to said 'get a Yamaha.' So, I did my research, did some play tests, and ended up with a Yamaha FG830. Now, this was a fantastic sounding guitar, just beautiful... but... a little ringy, and boomy on the lower end for me. I guess this is something the really experienced players like? Not sure. When I picked up this Fender cutaway, Whoa! Now that's what I'm talk'in about! I loved it so much... very rich, full tone, which can be mellow when it needs to be. Just the right amount of sustain. Long story short, I traded in the Yamaha for this Fender CD-60sce ... no regrets. I can't put this thing down, I love it! The pickup is a nice bonus, very versatile! I like the neck better than the Yamaha, and the action was super easy to set with just a quarter turn of the truss rod. I think I'm hooked on this guitar. If something were to happen to it, I'd get another -- same model, same color. The instrument is flawless, very solid construction. I am so, so impressed! If you've been looking at this model, go get one! It's perfect.

Can't seem to let it go

I've had this guitar about 2 years now. I have a number of other guitars including some high end and occasionally think I should get rid of the Fender. The plan goes awry when I decide to pick on it a minute between the back room and front door. Actually it is more a case of it deciding. The neck just grabs me - it's SO easy to play. The tone is respectable and if it weren't for the acoustic volume being so constrained I'd play it more often. The fret ends on mine are just slightly sharp but nothing that's going to affect play for most. For a beginner/learner, as long as you're not trying to play along with someone else, or in a noisy environment, it's a great choice. Otherwise the volume will be a hindrance.

The CD140SCE has a solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides, which gives it a more balanced and dynamic sound than the CD60SCE, which has a laminated spruce top and mahogany back and sides
