collapse expand iconDescription

The Fender '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb tube amplifier provides legendary vintage-style tone in a portable package. Optimized for performance, this 20W combo amp features handwired modified AB763 all-tube circuitry and a 12" Jensen C-12Q speaker housed in a solid pine cabinet for enhanced resonance. The '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb offers discerning players the opportunity to craft signature sounds with pure tube tone and tube-driven reverb and tremolo.

Definitive Fender Cleans and Creamy Overdrive

Powered by four 12AX7 and two 12AT7 preamp tubes, two 6V6 output tubes and a 5AR4 rectifier tube, the '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb produces the iconic warm, dimensional tone that Fender amps are renowned for. The Normal channel provides pristine cleans with glassy highs and robust lows, while the Bright channel adds chimey brilliance for single-coil guitars. As you increase the volume, the '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb transitions smoothly into creamy, harmonically rich overdrive perfect for blues and rock.

Versatile Amp for Stage and Studio

Despite its conservative power rating, the '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb is highly versatile and capable of excelling in both stage and studio applications. The two-channel preamp, shared EQ, and tube-driven reverb and tremolo allow for a wide range of tones, from spanky cleans to saturated crunch. The 20W of output power is ideal for small-to-medium venues, providing enough headroom for a dynamic and responsive playing feel. In the studio, the '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb works beautifully as a direct guitar amplifier or for reamping guitars by sending its signal to a larger amplifier.

Authentic Fender style

From the oxblood grille cloth and wheat-colored control panel to the black textured-vinyl covering, the '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb exudes vintage Fender style. The amp is outfitted with Fender's classic skirted control knobs, red jewel pilot light and leather strap handle for a period-correct look that complements its vintage-voiced tone.

I recently bought this amp. I own a Princeton and have played/heard most amps. This is by far the best amp I have ever heard. The definition and clarity are unrivaled. It is worth the money. The only negative I have is that for my taste the Jensen stock speaker is very bright. I'm replacing it with a greenback.

Use it for gigging in classic rock and roll band and home practice mostly. It is very lightweight and has excellent tone. Reverb and tremelo sound great but for tremelo to work the foot pedal must be plugged in? I have about 10 pedals on my pedalboard and it takes pedals great as well.

All I can say is, "Wow." This amp sounds phenomenal. It just sounds so full and rich and clear. It just naturally compresses and breaks up in such a nice and subtle way. At 4 on the volume, there is just enough for the notes to be chewy without being too loud to play at home (in a twin house). I was just immediately blown away by the lush 3D sound, and I have always been a huge fan of the bias vary tremolo. Sonically it is very close to my special edition 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue which has a Jensen P12Q. the Deluxe just adds so much more on every level. I still love both amps, but I really can't imagine waiting to turn on any of my other amps after playing this. I've owned a ton of amps, and this is the first time I have felt I could actually see myself selling all of the others.

In my opinion, this amp is every bit as good as the pre-CBS amps we all love, with one forgivable exception: the tank reverb on the originals was much better. The easy and obvious workaround is to set the on-board reverb on 1 and play through an external reverb unit, preferably a tube-driven model with individually fine-tunable dwell, mix, and tone. Aside from that one small issue, the amp delivers absolutely face-meltingly gorgeous sound. Worth the money.

I've had it about a week. Solid build quality, Normal and Bright channels sound fantastic. Tried a strat, tele, and Paul through it, and they all sound great. Vibrato and Reverb are tube driven, and sound great. Pedals go well with this amp. Fuzzes need more dialing in, but overdrives and distortions perform well (Maxon SD-9, OCD. Menatone Red Snapper, and Wampler Tumnus). I've read some comments about price point, but since Fender is building these through the Custom Shop and hand-wiring them, as opposed to the reissues. Most boutique clones run the same price. Personally, I wanted an original 64/65 DR, but they cost about the same or higher, so I went for new, handwired with a warranty. The combo is light and easy to carry. Plug and play, you're ready to go. Recommend.
