Open Box Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro IV Limited-Edition Electric Guitar Level 2 Worn Wine Red 197881283148

Description
The iconic Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro IV limited-edition electric guitar is now available in four eye-catching "worn" finish that give it a vintage vibe. Powered by Epiphone's Alnico Classic humbucking pickups, this Les Paul produces a warm, rich tone perfect for rock and blues. Its mahogany body and neck provide full, balanced sound with singing sustain. The Les Paul Traditional Pro IV also features upgraded components like push-pull coil-splitting volume controls, a treble-bleed circuit, and locking tuners for maximum tonal versatility and tuning stability.
Alnico Classic Humbuckers Deliver Legendary Tone
The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro IV is equipped with a pair of Epiphone Alnico Classic humbucker pickups that provide the warm, articulate tone that defined rock music. These pickups feature alnico magnets and enamel-coated wire for exceptional clarity and balanced output. When used together, they produce a thick, creamy tone with rich harmonic overtones and sustain for days. The push-pull volume controls enable coil-splitting for single-coil-like tones, allowing a wider range of sounds.
Solid Mahogany Body and Neck
Like all classic Les Pauls, the Traditional Pro IV has a solid mahogany body and neck. Mahogany's dense grain lends warmth, depth and resonance to the overall tone. The body's arched top and smooth contours offer playing comfort, while the set mahogany neck provides fast action and smooth playability. A Indian laurel fretboard adds warmth and articulation. This high-quality tonewood construction gives the Les Paul Traditional Pro IV the sound and feel of a much more expensive guitar.
Upgraded Hardware for Rock-Solid Performance
Epiphone didn't cut any corners when it came to the Traditional Pro IV's hardware and electronics. It's equipped with metal barrel volume and tone knobs, a heavy-duty metal toggle switch and high-quality electronic components. Locking tuners provide fast, precise tuning and keep the guitar in tune through heavy playing. A Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece anchor the strings and transfer their vibrations to the body with maximum efficiency and sustain.

90% as good as a Gibson for 20% the price
For a little over a year, I worked in a small boutique custom shop which was owned and operated by a master luthier who had previously worked for Fender in the 60s and had built guitars has entire life. I learned so much from him. During my time there I repaired, set up, and maintained hundreds of Gibsons, including custom Les Pauls, and other crazy guitars that I honestly had no business touching; as well as helping build hand-made custom guitars at the highest level of quality we were capable of. I'm no luthier by any means, but my point is that I know guitars inside and out, I've held and maintained many irreplaceable/"mythic" guitars... and I know good and bad quality when I see it. I have a 1999 Gibson Les Paul Standard that is my baby - the crown jewel of my collection - and I'm not going to lie to you, a real-deal plekked Gibson from the right era *can* be better. But not 5 times better. This Epiphone is basically 90% of a Gibson at 20% the price. The biggest thing I want to call out is that the fretwork on this thing is just bonkers for the price. I level, crown, and polish the frets on most of my import guitars to get the action down to around 1mm or less (where I like it) without buzz; but I didn't need to for this Epiphone. I may have gotten lucky, but right out of the box I was able to set it up, plug it in, and then proceed to slay dragons with it. I bought a pair of Gibson 498t/490r pickups before getting an Epiphone expecting to swap them in, but I haven't yet and just don't need to. The tone is brutal and slightly more modern sounding with the pickups that it came with. Finish has no flaws, stays in tune, intonates well, sounds good, crazy good fretwork, looks good on the wall and on stage, and it's not so irreplaceable that I'm afraid to keep it on a stand outside of the case. This is one of the best deals I've gotten in my 23 years of playing.

Revised Review - had to return it to Nashville
OK, it played great for a while after getting it set up. For about three months. Then the fret buzz came back. So I took it back for adjustment again. The Guitar Tech at the store adjusted it and told me if if went out again soon, call Epiphone. Three months later, it was buzzing again. They guy at Gibson had me take it to Guitar Center (3 hours away) to have a certified tech check it. He adjusted it, but saw a defect (hump) in the neck. He told me that if the buzz came back soon, return it to Gibson/Epiphone. It was buzzing the next day. It could not be repaired, but they replaced it with a very nice upgrade, so no complaints with service. Disappointed though, it was fun to play and looked nice; I expected better. BUt the upgraded replacement is very very nice too

Picked up the black version today. Played around 4 hours and have no complaints. Out of the box it feels amazing. Has a great finish and is light but still feels well made. Unless you have unlimited funds there is no reason to get a Gibson over this. If it wasn't for being lighter than a Gibson you would never know. Highly recommended.

I am a person returning to guitar after a 50 year hiatus. I always loved the Gibson Les Paul's but did not have the budget for one at this time and to be honest, I don't know how the playability could be any better with this Epiphone Les Paul. I play for personal enjoyment usually once per day +/-. I do wish there was a little more user info provided (in print) from Gibson such as suggested settings on the dials, etc...still monkeying with those.

Weight of the guitar?
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 8.5 lbssubmitted2 years ago

What gauge string are on it? I have this Lp and if I wanted to put a lighter gauge what would you recommend?
Stock they come with light gauge strings, which would be 9's. You would have to go to Ultra light strings at that point.submitted4 years ago
