collapse expand iconDescription

The Behringer POWERPLAY P16-I input module lets performers take charge of what they hear on stage. With the P16-I's 16 analog and 16 digital inputs, you can distribute audio signals to up to six Behringer P16-M personal mixers. This gives each musician and vocalist independent control over their monitor mix, allowing them to adjust volume, EQ, panning and more to suit their preferences. The P16-I input module is an easy, affordable way to equip small bands, worship teams and recording studios with a personalized monitor mixing system.

Set Up Is a Breeze

You can have the P16-I input module up and running in just minutes. Simply connect it to your main mixing console via the balanced TRS inputs or ADAT optical inputs. Then use Ethernet cables to link the P16-I to up to six P16-M personal mixers. The system is easily expandable by adding Behringer's P16-D ULTRANET distributors. With the P16-I's plug-and-play functionality, you can quickly create a personalized monitor mixing rig for your performers.

Intuitive Controls for Personalized Mixes

The P16-M personal mixers feature simple controls that make it easy for even non-techies to achieve their perfect monitor mix. Each performer can adjust the level, panning, EQ and more for their vocals and each instrument in their monitor feed, without affecting the front-of-house mix or anyone else's monitor mix. Musicians and vocalists get the exact blend they want to optimize their on-stage performance.

Flexible Connectivity for any Application

With 16 balanced TRS analog inputs and 16 ADAT optical digital inputs, the P16-I module provides flexible connectivity to handle a wide range of live and studio applications. You can connect everything from microphones and keyboards to drum machines, effects processors and more. The P16-I gives you the I/O you need to route signals from any audio source into your personalized monitor mixing system.

Affordable Personal Monitor Mixing

The Behringer POWERPLAY P16-I input module provides an easy, budget-friendly way to give each performer personalized control over what they hear on stage. Now your musicians and vocalists can focus on delivering their best performances, without being distracted by their stage monitors. Take control of your monitor mixes with the P16-I input module.

The module was easy to setup all 16 channels with two Interfaces. I just Plugged one "adat out of interface 1 to the P16 for channels 1-8" and used the "Adat 1 out from interface 2 into channel 9-16 Adat input." I had to make a custom I/O and "remap the outputs of 16 BUS channels" in PT12, so I created 16 new BUS channels and changed the outputs of each to "A interface A Adat 1-8 and B interface Adat 1-8". For example, the BUS 1 output will be changed to A Adat1, and repeat down the line. I changed the bus names to to "HP 1, HP 2, etc." I tested all of the channels with a random song and all of the channels worked in about a 20 minute setup. The quality is as expected and everyone who used these modules in my studio so far enjoys the full control over their personal mixes.

I work at a small church with a small budget. In order to combat the ever-present villain of stage noise, I needed an in-ear monitor system that wouldn't break the bank (you know what I'm talking about). I was hesitant to try these, but I've had good experience with Behringer products so I took an affordable risk. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality and solid construction of each unit (this P16-I, the P16-D, and the P16-M). We now use these across our entire band, saving tons of rehearsal time (no "tell the sound guy to give me more X in my monitor) and improving the quality of our room's sound (no uncontrollable stage noise). PROS Affordable! Quality Construction Easily Expandable (buy more P16-D and just daisy-chain) Sounds Great More Features Than Competition CONS High Noise Floor* "Muddy" Out-Of-Box Sound** Non-Intuitive Controls*** (This is regarding the personal mixers, P16-M) *The noise floor seems pretty high, but I'm not sure if that's my setup (our analog mixer is aurally pretty "dirty") or something present in this system. This is easily fixed with proper gain structure, though. **Out of the box, the sound seemed a bit "muddy" but again, this is also easily fixed with the built-in channel-specific EQ (which the competition doesn't have!). Also, this could actually be because of our current setup - I'm using the INSERT on each channel as the send to the ADC (P16-I, this unit), which is unprocessed signal direct from the stage. ***All of the proper information is in the manuals, but remembering it all is a struggle because it's not completely intuitive. For example, there is both a "Master" volume (top right of the P16-M) AND a "main" volume button to be controlled like another channel. Why have two master volume controls like this? It will probably take more than one class to teach your team how to use the IEM effectively. Yes I would absolutely recommend these to a friend. Try these first before you try any other IEM.

Pros No learning curve Easy to set up Extremely affordable (defines entry-level personal mixing) Sounds great for performing Cons Cat-5 connectors on front of unit I wish the analog connections came in on D-Subs so there would be room to put the Cat-5 connectors on the rear of the unit. That alone would make this a 5-star piece for me.
