BOSS RC-600 Loop Station – Next-Generation floor-based Looper Pedal

BOSS

collapse expand iconDescription

The Boss RC-600 Loop Station Effects Pedal gives musicians a powerful tool for building masterful live performances and studio productions. This next-generation looper provides six stereo tracks of CD-quality sound using 32-bit processing and offers real-time control over a huge range of world-class effects.

Six Stereo Tracks Provide a Blank Canvas

With six dedicated stereo phrase tracks, the RC-600 gives you ample room to layer rhythms, melodies, vocals, and more. Each track has its own set of controls for record, play, dub, and stop functions so you can build up loops one track at a time. The RC-600 lets you assemble a full musical composition on the fly and instantly save your creations to one of 99 phrase memory presets for later recall.

Massive FX Selection Enhances Your Sound

To color your loops, the RC-600 offers 49 types of input effects and 53 types of track effects with up to four simultaneous effects per phrase track. From classic stompboxes to advanced studio processing, you have a huge tonal palette to work with. Many of the time-based effects like delay, flanger, and tremolo can also be synced to the tempo of your loops for rhythmic modulations and washes of sound. With the RC-600's extensive effects, you can craft professional-sounding loops without the need for any external gear.

Unmatched Control for Dynamic Performances

The RC-600 gives you maximum control over your loop creations with nine fully assignable footswitches and deep support for external control via MIDI. You can instantly mute and unmute tracks, stop and restart loops, tap in tempos, trigger rhythms, engauge effects, and more in real time. For added expression, the RC-600 also provides two control jack inputs that support dual footswitches or an expression pedal. With the RC-600, you have all the tools needed to deliver jaw-dropping live loop shows.

Integrate with Your DAW and More

In addition to its floor-based operation, the RC-600 Loop Station seamlessly integrates into advanced setups for music production and performance. You can connect the RC-600 to your DAW via USB to import and export WAV files and control looping functions right from your computer. MIDI I/O allows you to sync effects and tempos with other gear or control the RC-600 remotely. The RC-600 also provides stereo outputs with independent level control so you can route different phrases to separate amps or PA systems.

One More row of 4 switches for efx would have been nice

I use the rc 600 live for a little back up on songs, which enables me to solo over parts, and change effects. However,I find it a little inconvenient that one has to switch into a separate window to turn effects on or off.I suppose the extra 4 switches are supposed to be configured via an external Footswitch (( not included). I find the switches very nice and responsive compared to other loopers. Effects are mostly useable but without editing they are all a little overdone (original sound verses effects mix change required in my opinion) Routing capabilities are excellent. I wouldn't use the drums live.. would require presets ect on every song.It is convenient to have drum sounds available for a midi controller as to loop percussion live. Probably the best looper for the price, and the ability to plug in multiple Instruments and microphones is great. I only wish they would have added 4 more dedicated switches for effect switching live.

Broken on arrival and doesn't do what I need

Waited three months and it showed up with a broken knob. They're out of stock again so I assume the exchange process would also take months. Probably just returning it. I can already tell that it has some of the same drawbacks as the rc505 in terms of midi connectivity. I can get it to sync up and start the first loop on beat, but then subsequent loops (or even that first one if I clear it and try again) lose the downbeat after that. Not sure why that would be but I can't get it to find the downbeat again until I turn it off and back on. Even starting fresh on a new memory it won't lock in again without a total reset. They advertise all these capabilities and different loop modes/behaviors but don't mention that if you're trying to sync it with anything then most of the modes are even an option. As far as I can tell midi sync only starts recording on the downbeat if you have loop sync on, meaning the start of each phrase is lined up. So then if two phrases aren't the same length and you try to switch between them they start in the wrong spot. This essentially means that only one setting out of all of them can be used with midi (loops synced/same length or multiples). Far less versatile than what is advertised. I don't know about you guys but I play lots of songs where sections aren't all the same length. I suppose you could program in the specific number or measures for each phrase before recording and maybe that would work but I'm doing bar gigs and taking requests and stuff. I can't stop and map all that out in advance. Even when it is synced, the phrases I record still sound glitchy like they're being quantized even though hypothetically it shouldn't need to be stretched at all if the start and end points are synced with the metronome. These kinds of limitations aren't mentioned anywhere in the documentation. The manual is only like 20 pages and doesn't go into any detail about any of this. You just have to spend the money and figure out what doesn't work on your own. Very frustrating. I like the fact that it has 6 loops per memory. And the idea of being able to "bounce" one track to another is brilliant. I've always used two loop stations to recreate that, and would very much appreciate the flexibility of having it built in. It probably works great if you're just looping on the fly without a metronome but I specifically bought it for use with a drum machine because they advertised so much more functionality in that area. Beyond disappointed.

As mentioned, extremely powerful. Unfortunately, also extremely complicated. Unless you are doing the most basic functions, you will spend a huge amount of time trying to figure this thing out by looking online at videos that people have posted. Not videos by Boss because they don't bother to educate anyone. You can also forget about their manual. It is trash, you're on your own. Unfortunately, Boss has the cornered market on this type of a product and they don't give a darn about the user experience. unlike, for example, line6

I feel like I won the #sweepstakes with this one. Hugely powerful and versatile. The basics and necessary controls are easy to get to, but more of the intermediate and advanced controls are a little but buried. Still an awesome unit.

I was using the product for live performances, it was very easy to learn how to use and record loops and I love the drum sound quality and the audio quality, Unfortunately, I had to return it because of getting error messages every once in a while, and I couldn't rely on it not to go out on me on a live performance #sweepstakes

Easy to start looping without reading the manual. I would have preferred they kept the old pedals instead of the nobs but it is still easy to start/stop the loops. The built quality seems great, will probably last for as long as I want to use it even though you step on it with your shoes. #sweepstakes
