Description
The BOSS Nextone Special 80W 1x12 combo amplifier is engineered to inspire. This versatile and powerful amplifier provides a wealth of tones for creative guitarists, singer-songwriters and performers. At its core is Boss' cutting-edge Tube Logic technology, which authentically emulates the sound and feel of vintage tube amps. A 12" custom speaker and 80 watts of power provide full, rich sound. An intuitive control panel puts a world of tones at your fingertips, from sparkling cleans to satisfying overdrive. Connect your favorite pedals, instruments and mics for an unlimited range of sounds on stage and in the studio.
Tube Logic Technology Delivers Authentic Tube Tone
BOSS' advanced Tube Logic technology is the secret behind the Nextone Special's organic, responsive sound. It meticulously emulates the complex clipping characteristics, sag and compression of vintage tube amps. The result is a dynamic, expressive tone that guitarists crave. Adjust the power control to switch between 80 watts, 40 watts and a whisper-quiet 0.5 watts for recording. A 12AX7 tube in the power amp section adds warmth and dimension to your sound.
Shape Your Sound with Innovative Controls
The Nextone Special's intuitive control panel puts you in the driver's seat. Quickly dial in sparkling cleans, vintage grit or satisfying overdrive using the dedicated gain, tone and volume knobs. A 3-band EQ provides precise tonal shaping. Engage the Vari-Voice switch to access alternative midrange voicings for a range of classic amp flavors. An effects loop allows you to connect external pedals and rack effects. The speaker out jack lets you connect an external speaker cabinet for more volume on stage.
Built to Inspire Creativity
Everything about the Nextone Special is designed to fuel your creativity. A sleek, rugged cabinet houses the amp's advanced components. The 12" custom speaker delivers a balanced frequency response with rich bass, smooth mids and articulate highs. With 80 watts of power, the Nextone Special projects your tone loud and clear for any gig. An XLR line out, USB audio interface and headphone jack provide options for recording, practicing and more.
Premium Features for Superior Performance
The Nextone Special includes additional features for professional-level performance. A four-button footswitch provides channel selection, reverb on/off, effects loop on/off and tap tempo control. MIDI in/out ports allow for remote control of parameters. The amp's durable plywood cabinet and tough metal grille ensure years of reliable use. A 5-year warranty provides peace of mind. Nextone Special + Special Editor + GA-FC = Tone Solution

With the amp's external controls, you are only able to get a passable tone; however, once you hook up the Nextone Special Editor, this amp can be tweaked into greatness setting the Bias and Sag controls, pre- and post-EQing, and editing its reverb tone. It loves my pedal board, too!
Holy Moly!!!

I gave this thing a good beating this morning with my single coil V Mod Strat, Shawbucker Strat, and my Gibson Les Paul Sutdio. I needed a good solid state for my teaching studio that I could turn down and still get a good sound. I have owned and also just played many nice and not so nice tube amps but never a "nice" solid state amp. This this is really cool and I would bring it as a backup and maybe even gig with it. I am blown away to be honest, and it takes a lot for me to say that. It has close to real tube feel for sure. If you spend a little time dialing it in and turn off all the boosters and let the amp do it's thing, it will sing for you. ;-)
Unique, feature filled amp with great sound

Let's get straight to it: you like digital for recording test tracks and for convenience. But you play live and something is missing. Ah, right, analog sound. Wouldn't be great to have an analog amp that sounds similar to tube amps, has modern features, some basic effects (boost, OD, distortion, delays w/ optional modulation, and reverb), and at a reasonable weight and cost? Welcome to the Nextone Special. You know the old pattern: the amp sounded great but I sure wish I could get it to *enter your desire here*. That's what the editor is for.
As a tube snob, surprised and delighted with the Nextone.

I'm pretty impressed with this amp. I've owned a lot of really highly regarded tube amps… I currently own a 70s Marshall JMP 2203 half stack and a Fender Super Reverb Reissue (rewired by Alessandro), so I have a couple great examples of stellar tone. I've been waiting a long time for a solid state combo to come along and rival a good tube combo, and now I think tubes are in trouble! Just didn't think it would be Boss who came out with a combo like this. I'd assumed Fractal, Kemper or Line6 would be first. Of course Fender's doing great with their Tonemaster series, but I love that this Boss is it's own thing, has more versatility, and let's you decide what style amp you want it to be. The speaker is surprisingly versatile and lets the amp be a chameleon. Overall, for the price I paid (on sale), this amp is a keeper!
