Power Sharing
The Vox AC30C2X amp makes use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 x EL84 tubes to deliver 30 watts of power. The AC30C2X tube amp uses 2 - 12" Celestion Alnico Blues, and includes a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a second extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16-ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

An Evolution in Tone
This Vox amp offers 2 channels: Normal and Top Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that's all your own.

Both channels of the Vox Custom AC30C2X tube amp rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Vox Custom guitar amplifier can deliver everything from a clean Vox "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone.

Sound in Motion
You can sweeten the sound of your Custom amplifier using the Vox Classic Tremolo effect. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom tube amp, adding spaciousness to the sound. The AC30C2X also includes an additional tone control in the Reverb section. All Custom Series amps can use the optional Vox footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play. The AC30C2 provides an effects loop for incorporating your favorite effects into your sound. True "Bypass" switching takes the entire effect loop out of the circuit.

The Last Amp You'll Ever Need

There is really little that can be negatively said about this amplifier. It's beautiful looking, and well crafted. Simply looking at it lets you and everyone else know it's special. This amplifier is a tone-lover's wet dream. I've always been about perfecting my tone, and therefore I've been meticulous about strings, guitar, pedals, bypass, amps, and so on. This amplifier has met every expectation I've had in it. It has the crispest sound on Earth with a balanced dosage of lows, mids, and highs. The tremolo and reverb are especially great for crafting your own distinct tone. The natural overdrive you get from this tuber (by tweaking your dials) is PHENOMENAL. I've heard that replacing the stock tubes will benefit this amp...I'm skeptical, but I plan on giving it a try within the next year or so. You'll really never need another amplifier.

Great in some regards

I have numerous tube amps including several newer Vox and Vintage Fenders. With this group of amps to use for comparison I find that the AC30C2X is a good but not great amp. The speakers are the highlight of this amp. The Celestion Alnico Blues are fantastic speakers that deliver a very bright chime when played clean and deliver a ton of grit when the amp is pushed. This amp has the electronics built on a printed circuit board. This is ok and doesn't really have a notable impact on sound but I've found that PCB's don't hold up as well as point to point wired amps. They are also virtually impossible to repair, which I think is a serious drawback. This amp has an incredible diversity of sounds and if one takes the time to work with it you can certainly find the sound your looking for. For me I had to change out some tubes to get there though. The amp comes with Sovetek tubes which I think sound harsh and brittle in this amp. I changed out the EL 84's with a combo of old RCA, Sylvania, and GE tubes and found that the amp opened up and sounded much better. All and all I think this is a good amp for a working musician, it's way to loud for small homes or apartments. It's great for clubs though. It's fairly durable but the circuit board is a weak point. Remember though almost any commercial amp on the market these days also use PCB's. At the price point of this amp I think it's hard to beat. Spend the extra bucks to get this version of the AC30 rather than the one without the Celestion Blues.

I've been playing guitar for 30 years. Styles include Rock & Blues. I love Marshalls and have also used a Fender Super Reverb. I've tried Friedmans, love the sound of the BE100 but not the price. This Vox AC302X ("X" means Alnico Blue vs. Greenback Celestions) is awesome - fuller, punchier, warmer & clearer (even with a disortion pedal) than my Marshall DSL. I've jumped the Normal & Top Boost but prefer the Top Boost alone. It takes pedals very well just as the Marshall does (the Fender not as well). Price to value is excellent, highly recommend it.

well it all comes down to personal preference and playing style, i curently play in a band that plays everything from 90's grunge and alternative to classic rock and blues and it does them all very well, i can't see how anyone could not fall in love with this amp. it's capable of many different tones from sparkling cleans to beautiful natural over drive that can be dialed in at just about any volume and can also be pretty well controlled by you guitars volume. over all this amp has given new life to my playing and is very inspiring. at the price or any price really i don't know how you can beat it. try one out for your self.

to start off this has a great tone, but its a little pricey considering what little versatility it has. you can get a real nice clean tone, but not much drive at all. To get that distortion tone that Brian May uses you need to either get the Digitech Brian May signature distortion pedal(duh) or any good harmonic saturator or warm sounding distortion pedal. This amp is pretty heavy, (75 lbs), so i would definately get a cart to move this around for gigs. and if you are facing the amp, the dials are upside down, as if you are supposed to stand behind the amp when you are playing it. sometimes this amp can sound shrill, but fortunately it is easy to dial out of. the tremolo on this amp is definitely over par though, i also like how you can plug the amp into itself and get a more powerful sound. This amp is great for playing jazz, some blues and old rock. (wes montgomery, chuck berry, beatles, the who, kinks, muddy waters, jimi hendrix (mostly his clean tone). Another thing i like about it is the look, its not just a generic black box. Overall I would get this amp if you are a beatles or jazz aficionado, and own a gibson, fender, rickenbacker, prs, or gretsch. But when your are plaing anything post 70's, this amp is a fish out of the water.

This amp was a gift to me from my parents these past holidays. The tone of the amp is nice, clean, and loud. There is different options of tone. My friends say they wish they had this amp. They would like some gret tone like this for their guitars. I've had several different amps (including foreign amps) with different brands, but they all don't compare to this Vox tube amp. This amp is the best sounding...
