For live sound applications, an especially interesting line of sound enhancers is Korg's Kaoss Pad series. Since the first KP3 was introduced in 2006, these have been a common sight on DJ consoles everywhere. There's an updated version of that original model now, the KP3+, which takes everything that made its predecessor great and turns it all up a notch with 42 new effects and a big helping of added functions. Don't make the mistake of thinking the KP3+ is only for DJs, either: it can also be right at home in a studio - it just depends on what you're looking to get out of your new gear. If you would rather have something a bit more traditional, that's no problem: you'll find all kinds of rack-mounted and tabletop sound enhancers and exciters to choose from as well.
Some standouts include the Radial Engineering line, like the X-Amp 500 Reamp, and a whole slew of nice rack-mounted units from BBE, including the 882i and 482i Sonic Maximizers. Are you looking for something compact and quick to set up? Check out the Peavey Kosmos M or the BBE 282iQ. Sound enhancers and exciters prove one thing beyond a doubt: that there's more to high-energy music than just a pounding beat and maxed-out volume dial. These devices are amazing ways to take your tunes to the next level, whether you're a creator toiling in the studio or a DJ rocking the club from floor to ceiling.
