Description
The CFX Premium Grand Piano Voice recreates the power and tone of the flagship CFX concert grand piano from Yamaha. GHS weighted action is heavier in the low keys and lighter in the high keys, just like an acoustic piano. Three piano-style pedals offer authentic sustain, sostenuto and soft pedal performance. Tone Escapement uses a long and narrow hole in the back of the piano to create a wide sound space. VRM (Virtual Resonance Modeling) Lite technology makes the sound more like that of a real acoustic piano by reproducing its sophisticated string resonance. Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) automatically adjusts the EQ of the built-in stereo speaker system to the player's setting, ensuring the richest tone at any volume level. Stereophonic Optimizer adjusts the spatial distribution of sound in the listener's headphones, creating the sensation that sound is coming directly from the piano, rather than from the headphones. Volume Limiter lowers the overall volume of the instrument so that you can protect your hearing with or without headphones. 192-note polyphony allows you to play complex passages on your keyboard without any dropped notes. Duo-mode splits the keyboard into two halves, each with their own "middle C" for practicing with a partner.

We were looking for a weighted-key piano for our children to use when they begin piano lessons, and to use ourselves. After some research, we landed on the Arius YDP-145 for its balance between high-quality build, sound, and feel, as well as the pedals, vs. something either lower-end or higher-end. During the research, I read that some people complained that their unit was damaged or nicked after shipping. We could not pick up locally and had no choice but to ship. Sadly, after putting it together, we realized that ours had some damage in the corner as well. Given that we had already set it up and the cosmetic damage was not immediately noticeable unless someone was specifically looking, we decided to keep it rather than go through the hassle of trying to get a replacement. So, we would advise to check your unit for damage before assembling. 4/5 stars because of what seems to be a recurrent problem with damage after shipping, but the piano works, sounds, and feels great.
Great buy! We needed an acoustic piano for home use.

Love it! Came with a bench w/out storage, looks great and solid enough. Sound is good! We use it for playing and listening. Nothing beats piano music at dinner time, my favorite feature of it, since I don't play piano personally. My daughters like it as well. They take classes and school has same piano, but 144 model. Love the double headphones plug since my daughters do play together and at times I need piece & quiet. Didn't even get to the app yet, but I'm happy already with purchase. Guys at guitar center were very helpful & great customer service!!!! Purchased: YDP 145b black Use: home Assembly required, ready to play.

What exactly does "duo-mode split the keyboard into two halves, each with their own middle C for practicing with a partner" mean? I won't be practicing with a partner, so what effect does this have? is the keyboard different somehow?
If you don't use the split fuction - it's not on automatically - it won't do anything. Many digital units have a split ability. It's common. .submitted2 years ago
