Simmons SD2000 Mesh-Head Electronic Kit

Description
The SD2000 is the first Simmons kit to feature advanced, tension-able mesh pads with variable attack response technology for expressive performance and nuanced playability. Each SimHex® drum is fully adjustable to personal playing positions thanks to the revolutionary Spherical Isolation Mounting System (SIMS). The SD2000’s triple-zone SimHex mesh snare allows for even more creative triggering options, while the low-profile rubber pad rims provide a superior, natural playing angle.
The SD2000’s sound module has a large, full-color LCD screen, providing an intuitive portal into the Simmons Signature Sound Library and a variety of other best-in-class features. This expansive sound collection features a plethora of famous, recognizable vintage drum sets from decades past and as well as many contemporary kits. The entire library was captured with era-specific recording techniques for unsurpassed authenticity throughout. Additionally, many of the classic sounds from famous Simmons vintage gear was painstakingly recaptured for this series. More than just drum sounds, Simmons includes an enviable collection of world percussion, giving the SD2000 the largest selection of sounds in the electronic drum market. A built-in performance mixer allows players to control volume, EQ, pitch, shape and apply filters on the fly for outstanding sound sculpting in the moment.

More than money's worth but different

This set is larger, heavier and much more solid than any set in its size. It has rims that are large and can be turned into more drums by a simple change in settings. I didn't give it a 5 because the kick drum is a pain to connect pedals up. I had to contact Simmons to send me a different attachment so I could hook mine up. They should have just packed both styles in the box. The other thing with it is it has a mesh head and I was not aware the felt side would tear the head up. They put it in the book to use the plastic side of the strikers, but it should have had a sticky label. Simmons replaced the head for free. Not sure what the first reviewer is talking about but Simmons treated me great and took care of me. The set sounds very nice for what I paid. It's no $2000 dollar Roland but it does things the Roland's can't do as well. I have made so many of my own kits with extra cowbell, gongs etc. that I can't imagine just having a plain drum set.
Love this set!

Great starter kit, or just if you need something quiet

This is a great mid level electric drum set. Perfect for beginners, or someone that just needs to practice in quiet settings. I personally like the feel better than Roland and Yamaha, unless you're willing to shell out $4k + for their high end models. The mesh heads are very responsive, and you definitely get a good range of sound. You can also adjust the sensitivity and re-trigger, so if it sounds like it's not responding, try messing with those settings first. Obviously not the most visually appealing, and can be a bit hard to set up because the legs attach to each other via a clamp that you screw together using a drum key. However, the stand/drums are pretty solid, and have plenty of room to adjust to what you need. Sounds are average. Nothing to blow you out of the water with, but again, on par with Roland / Yamaha around this price range.

Bought these and what a mistake. Had to suffer taking these back and forth to Guitar Center. Was not Guitar Centers fault. It was Simmons all the way. No response to email or phone messages at Simmons customer service. Took over a week to catch someone on the phone. The they read from the owners manual and didn't have any other insight of the system. I had to get Guitar Center to give me another module and it didn't work either.

It was fairly easy to set up. But I haven't figured out how to adjust the brain yet, and that is my only concern. It was hard to connect a bass pedal also.

Does it come with a bass pedal? Or is that sold separately?
Greetings, unfortunately this model does not come with a kick pedal, however, we sell a large inventory of pedals. One option may be: Ddrum Quicksilver Single Bass Drum Pedalsubmitted7 years ago

What does it mean when it says in the description: Does not accommodate double pedals? I have a double pedal, but both beaters are on the right pedal, so could I use these to play double kick or not?
Unfortunately, this kit would not be compatible with double pedals as the kick pad is too small.
