Great beginner set with some buts.
Apparently I'm space limited, so I'll try to be concise. You get what you pay for, in the sense that if you look at kinds of entry level cymbal sets for $300, hi-hat stands for $150+ you start to appreciate what you get here. You can start playing right away, provided you can get it all put together without instructions. MAKE SURE you get a drum key, or you'll have problems. Once set up and tuned well, hey, I'm pretty happy with it. The drums anyway. I've already got a towel in the bass because I don't like a lot of reverb from that. When you look at the cost of hardware and other metal, you will get my next point. If you're a faster learner, or have the basics down, you will outgrow at least the cymbals and hardware very fast. This is likely the biggest cost cutting. They're cheap and flimsy. My main issues are the hi-hat stand and throne. The throne is a death trap that I have to tighten every few minutes. If you aren't a child and weigh adult weights, bump your budget by $100 and get your own throne. Lastly, the hi-hat stand doesn't have a real clutch. Just a felt, a washer, and a nut that falls off ALL THE TIME unless you crank it down, which isn't right. Overall, It's a great way to get started, but just keep in mind like many things, it can quickly become a money pit.

I wish I had followed my instinct. You get what you pay for.
I knew better, and I hate it when this happens. If you have ever owned a drum set, or set up a drum set, you will immediately upon unboxing realize that this kit is not good. The shells are flimsy, the hardware feels like plastic, the pedal is among the worst I've seen, and won't stay attached to the kick drum. The heads are worthless, the cymbals are even worse. Trash can lids. You won't use them. I had low expectations to begin with, as it was only to be used for rehearsal and never intended to gig with it. This junk is going back to GC first thing in the morning. A criminal waste of time going through the bother of unboxing and setting up. I was able to get the snare to sound ok, but that is it. I promise you will be way better off buying a decent used kit. I never expected anything with the Ludwig name on it to be this bad. I really can't imagine how I could have done worse. There is a reason you won't see a display model of this thing on the floor. If you could see it and touch it, you wouldn't buy it.

I'm using it for school soon but it sounds great. If you're able to get this kit in the "midnight purple color," it's the best looking on stage lights/ wherever you use it! I haven't even gotten any heads yet, but the stock heads sound great (if you tune them right). I thought this kit was going to be a pocket kit, but I won't need to get any kit for a long time!

I use it about 50% of my day and it is amazing. I started playing drums about three days ago and it has been nothing but great to me. I don't know much about drums yet, but this is definitely a very good starter set for people like me trying to start their music journey. I would definitely recommend this.

This is a surprisingly high quality well made kit. Everything is wood and chromed steel, no plastic garbage anywhere. The stands are tough. I love the snappy snare. Everything is included, even drum stool, sticks, drum key, upper and lower clear heads. All the batter heads and the bass drum front head are clearly labelled "Ludwig", which is nice branding to please every Ringo fan. There were no setup instructions in the box but I found very clear instructions on the Ludwig website.
Great deal for a great little kit!

I have started a new band with some co-workers and I bought this kit so a friend who plays drums could join us and not have to move his own kit across town for practices. It sounds great after tuning it up, stuffing a pillow into the bass drum and away we went. It's so great to have a drummer finally. I don't know where this will go but I do know this is a great drum set for a super great price!!

The ad says the set comes with a Hi-Hat stand and it shows in the pictures. I also read that there is no pedal for the Hi-Hat stand. Is this correct? If so where/how do I get one.

We ordered this kit as a 2022 Christmas gift for a young drummer in the family & want him to be able to jump right in & "hit the ground running" with this kit on Christmas Day. Is there ANYTHING we need to have for him so he can start playing right away? One review implied we needed to buy a key - is this correct? Is there anything else? GC stores are closed Christmas Day & we want him to be able to play right away. Thanks so much !!!
The key is for tuning. I believe one is included but since, like all keys it will get lost, it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of spares. He will need sticks.
