Classic Design
The utilitarian design of the Telecaster has withstood the test of time. On the Player Plus, the body is alder, a tonewood that Fender has employed since 1956. Resonant with a balanced tone, it provides a perfect platform for the pickups to shine.
Noiseless Pickups
From Danny Gatton's warm jazz comping to James Burton's chicken picking, Jimmy Page's snarling solo on "Stairway to Heaven" to Jeff Buckley's harp-like sound on "Hallelujah," a Telecaster's tone is surprisingly versatile. You'll get all of that and more on the Player Plus Telecaster, but one thing you won't get is interference. It's spec'd with Gen 4 Noiseless single coils. Wound with Alnico V magnets, the Gen 4 pickups are also high output, making it easier to drive your amplifier to distortion. A push/push pot lets you run the pickups in series for a beefier sound, or in parallel for more traditional tones.
A Neck That Stands Out
The neck on the Player Plus Telecaster deserves special recognition. It has a Modern C shape or "flattened oval" profile that's more ergonomic than others. Rolled fretboard edges give it a worn-in-feel. Unusual for a Tele, the fretboard has a 12" radius, making it easier to bend strings without fretting out.
Updated Hardware
Once you've experienced locking tuners, you'll never want to go back. To change strings on the Player Plus Telecaster, just thread each string, lock, cut and tune it up. The six-saddle bridge offers more exact intonation than on a traditional Tele. Working in concert with the high-ratio tuners, you'll be able to play in tune all night long.
The Fender Player Plus Tele comes with a deluxe gig bag.
