DeoxIT Gold G5 Spray is a 5% solution maximum performance electrical contact conditioner, protectant, and lubricant. Works great on plated metal electrical connections, contacts, and metal surfaces.

DeoxIT Gold conditioning solution improves conductivity and provides long-lasting protection on gold, base metals, and other precious metal contacts and connections (gold, silver, rhodium, copper, bronze, nickel, etc.). Use on plated connectors, contacts, and metal surfaces for maximum performance and protection.

DeoxIT Gold is designed to dissolve small amounts of oxidation. Gold G5 is recommended for critical applications where only slight cleaning action is necessary. For severely oxidized or contaminated surfaces, pre-clean with DeoxIT contact cleaner and rejuvenator.

If the surface looks clean, applying DeoxIT contact cleaner first is usually not necessary. The more critical the connection or part-especially for low current applications-the more DetoxIT Gold is a recommended final step.

Formerly known as ProGold, Craig makes a whole line of DeoxIT products: the D, S, F, and G series of products. You may want to spend a little time on Craig's DeoxIT web page to educate yourself on which product/s are best for your application. To sum it up, below is some info from the Craig literature: The D series is their strongest cleaner, "Fast acting deoxidizing solution cleans, improves conductivity, lubricates & protects." The S series offers "Superior lubrication and protection in harsh environments (humidity, salts, pollutants, sulfur, etc.)." The F series is a "Treatment for Conductive Plastic and Carbon-based Controls/Potentiometers." That brings us the G series, which is being reviewed: "DeoxIT Gold G-Series is a unique formulation which conditions, seals, and protects gold plated metal connectors and contacts. DeoxIT7 Gold is ideal for gold and all nonferrous metal surfaces. It deoxidizes minor amounts of surface contamination, penetrates plated surfaces, and molecularly bonds to the base metal, sealing and protection all surfaces." This can of G5 is an aerosol formulation of their G100 in a 5% solution. I prefer the full strength liquid G100 when cleaning/treating exposed gold plated contacts and edge connectors where I can wipe off the excess (helps with the cleaning). For places where that is not possible this G5 spray is great. I work on high-end medical equipment and have been using the G series for 10+ years with great results. Believe me; I would not go to the trouble of buying this if I didn't see tangible results.

I have a 10 year old Gretsch and the pickup switch started acting up. I would lose one or the other pickup and was getting ready to tear it apart when I found this stuff. I sprayed a tiny bit into each switch from around the top toggle and it not only fixed the problem but I noticed much better movement in the switch. Much smoother like butter! I would recommend trying this stuff before you start yanking apart the electronics!
