Great finish and sound

The Yamaha Stage Custom Birch kit with the 20" bass in natural finish was my choice. I love the finish quality was superior in this kit t The bearing edges on the shells are properly milled and the wood in the shells is clean and clear of blemishes. The heads are of good quality but I did replace the toms heads with the remo pinstripe clear heads to thicken the tone. The snare i used a dw performace also i removed the hardware from the center of the floor toms The bass drum has a really big tone and the toms sing as well. The YESS hardware is excellent as always. Highly recommended.

Yes but have it shipped to the store for inspection first

The bass drum shell was split all the way through the plies of wood from the bering edge about an inch or two into the shell in two places on the shell. It is curious as to how the packer didn't see the damage before boxing and shipping the item out from the factory. I live in a very remote area and it is convenient for me to buy online and have the merchandise delivered to my home as I am not near a Guitar Center. I called customer service and was advised to drive into the closest Guitar Center for the return and refund and/or exchange. This entailed a little over an hour drive to the store to have the purchase credited back to my credit card. My advice is if you are interested in purchasing these drums have them shipped to the store that way store employees can inspect the merchandise to see if it's in the proper condition.

    Pros: Drum finish is beautiful. Suspended tom mount adds less weight than other brands. Cons: Stock heads are thin/cheap. Snare drum sounds good when properly tuned but is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Detunes constantly.

    The YSC drum kit is freakishly good. Birch shells sound great. Cranberry red lacquer finish is beautiful. Great hardware. The incredible sound that rivals much higher end drums. Stock heads are junk, but with good heads and tuning, they hold their own. So happy to have them!

    I will use this kit to gig with. It is a very well made kit for the money and punches hard above it's price. As always, lesser priced kits usually come with low quality heads and should be replaced immediately with a better head of your choice.
