Description
Release Date:08/26/2014;Notes:Limited vinyl LP-only pressing including digital download. Originally released on an extremely limited cassette by the Digitalis label, the album makes a welcome debut to the vinyl format. Matchess is the solo project of Whitney Johnson, singer and keyboardist for Chicago band Verma. Johnson's minimalist sensibility owes as much to the Berlin school as it does to early industrial and minimal synth pioneers like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire. Matchess places Johnson in league with counterparts like Zola Jesus and Liz Harris (Grouper), carrying the torch of female experimental and electronic musicians in the 21st century.;Track List:1. Need of the Greatest Wealth;2. Letters of Blood and Fire;3. Grey Nebulous Distance;4. Utterly Delightful Cry of Outrage;5. Mind in Self-Estrangement;6. Realm of the Alien Powers
