Fender Vintera Stratocasters | Nile Rodgers' First Impressions

Fender Vintera Stratocasters | Nile Rodgers' First Impressions

The Fender Stratocaster echoes through every decade of modern music, beginning with its introduction in 1954 and continuing on to the festival stages and recording studios of today. From rhythmic rockabilly to psychedelic solos to danceable disco, the uniquely different sounds of the 1950s, 60s and 70s exemplify how this versatile instrument serves the creative vision of any artist holding it. The Fender Vintera Stratocasters pay tribute to these three decades of sonic innovation as a suite of vintage-spec Strats in classic colors.

Of the artists who made the Stratocaster their own, Nile Rodgers cast this guitar as a dancefloor mainstay with his signature “chucking” technique. A composer, guitarist, and producer, Rodgers co-founded the band Chic in the 1970s and is responsible for hits like “Good Times” and “Le Freak.” His career transcended disco fever as he went on to produce numerous chart-toppers for artists like Madonna, David Bowie, and Daft Punk. He is still actively producing new music and touring today.

We invited Nile Rodgers to check out the new Fender Vintera Stratocasters and chatted with him about his first impressions, why the Strat has worked for him all these years, and the inspiration behind his signature technique. He plays familiar grooves on the new Vinteras, and even breaks out his original “Hitmaker” to give us a listen.
