Description
Grover tuners
Rotomatics with 18:1 gear ratio (102-18 series)—the original Rotomatic with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination.
Rosewood fingerboard
The most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.
EMG Active 81/85 pickups
One of the most popular EMGs, the 81 is the one that started a revolution. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high-end cut and fluid sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position, this pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. When used in both neck and bridge positions, the sound can only be described as blistering. Recommended pairings include the classic 81/85 setup.
3-piece maple neck
Made with three pieces of maple for extra stability. Three-piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the three-piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Check It Out!!!!!
I was looking to retrofit my Jackson copy (which I was satisfied with)with a pair of EMG's but decided the cost wouldn't be worth it, so on a whim, decided to go whole hog on a new axe. I tried some ESP's and a Jackson (all EMG 81/85's and 1 ESP branded active)at GC, but kept coming back to this one because of it's playability and feel. I can say without exaggeration this is one the axes that will improve your playing: fast neck with almost no dead spots that picks up EVERY note, effortless harmonics, useful tone and volume controls, deep Floyd cutout for a floating trem, tight low end and ready to play out the box. Deceptively ordinary until you push the EQ to +20dB, then its pure surreal beast! Fit and finish are incredible for a guitar at this price point. At this point, I am having a hard time going back to my old axe. I was looking for the cliched EMG growl, but was pleasantly surprised by the flexibility of the instrument running through a standard 6AX7, EL34 100W setup; Think RR Flyin' High Again, Jake E Lee-Bark at the Moon, Joe Satriani, Nile Rodgers, Vinnie Vincent, Ernie Isley, Dimebag, In Living Colour and of course vintage Metallica..still experimenting after a few months. I give it a true score of 4.5 stars only because I ran into a couple of dead spots on the high E and B and the volume knob placement doesn't allow for easy manual volume swells, but these are minor quibbles in an overall outstanding instrument which I've become addicted to playing. Highly recommended! I will be taking a look at some of the other Schecter's in the future!

Schecter Doesn't Sell Replacement Parts
The title says it all. Schecter Doesn't Sell Replacement Parts. My two year old daughter unscrewed a bunch of screws and pieces, and now I have no way to buy replacements. As far as I'm concerned the sound quality of the guitar doesn't matter if I can't play it.

Although I always check reviews when looking for new gear, I'm careful to take them at face value. Well let me tell you something Cousin, this here guitar is the real deal. I may have just gotten a good one or maybe not, I don't know. I listen to all types of music, but I play hard rock and metal because for me it's the most fun to play, and this thing is FUN to play. The Schecter Platinum series to me combines excellent playability as the neck is nothing short perfect for me and great tone from the EMG pickups. The hardware really pops against the finish. I had zero issues setting it up, and with the Grover machines, the locking system, and the Floyd Rose it comes with, throw in a good set of strings, and I've been able to wail on the whammy bar and bend the strings whole steps until the cows come home and rarely need more than fine tuning afterwards. I'm not a professional musician,(most of us aren't), but I've been playing since High School (I'm 60) and know what I like. The bats took a little getting used to, but I absolutely love this thing.

This guitar was an upgrade from a strat, I wanted a Floyd rose that stayed in tune and that's all I was really interested in. I got what I wanted. You can mess this guitar up as much as you want with the whammy bar and it will always be in tune. Also Emgs sound so good for metal or anything else to be honest.

I purchased this guitar almost as a joke since I needed an inexpensive shred machine with a Floyd Rose and hot pick-ups and here I find one with that's not only fun to play but also has bat inlays, as if the EMG 81 and 85 pick-ups didn't already scream metal up your you know what enough. It came out of the box almost perfectly tuned and set up and ready to rock and look good doing it. I'm used to playing more expensive Ibanez guitars who's necks almost play for you, but the thin "C" 3 piece maple, set in neck, jumbo frets, and Rosewood fingerboard along with it's 25.5" scale make this a perfect metal shredder that I'm finding myself playing more than I ever though I would and enjoying it.
I would buy this guitar again
