good for beginners/intermediate
i had this guitar for a couple months now and it is a really good guitar..i mean i would have paid aleast $200 just for the guitar..i noticed many people said that the gig bag was bad but hello, its basically free..you get the picks, the strap, the gig bag, a tuner, a pouch, and the amazing guitar just for $100. after you get use to the strings, re-string it...otherwise it's a great guitar...and thats the most important thing right?..not the gig bag, or the tuner or the strap

Good, not great
This is the second year I've used this guitar for my guitar class. I order about 20 at a time because it's a great price for the package. Last year they were all great--sound, looks, and gear. This year, the 20 I ordered sound aweful. The strings WILL NOT stay in tune and the sound resonating from the guitar poorly amplifies the already bad sound. I think I will look for a different package next time.

I learned to play on a borrowed acoustic guitar from a friend and then took up electric to expand my musical repertoire. The electric guitar was also a good purchase from Guitar Center. But I missed playing acoustic. After laying off playing the guitar for several years, I decided to take up acoustic guitar again but didn't want to layout a lot of cash. So I checked out the reviews of several startup packs. This one seemed like the best deal. I wasn't disappointed. The IJV50 is a sturdy instrument with excellent tone and resonance for all levels of skill and it was delivered correctly setup. But the original strings that come with the pack does not do this instrument justice. Light stings are recommended by Ibenez and anyone who purchases this guitar should keep that in mind. I took a few months experimenting with a variety of light strings before writing this review. I found 80/20 bronze too clangy and silk and steel strings too mushy sounding. So I have settled on A'Daddario phosphor bronze custom lights to bring out the best quality sound that this guitar seems to offer with thumb strumming, finger and flat picking, and even light slide. It projects sound well. I recommend purchasing a string winder for re-stringing since the tuning mechanisms have a very low gear ratio. With a good set of strings it tunes up well and stays tuned but the G sting tuning peg tends to slip during adjustment. I don't do public performances but this guitar sounds very good in small venues with friends or just for pure pleasure. It stands up well accompanying more expensive acoustic guitars. Quite impressive. It is worth buying at least a foam case for travel but the gig bag is fine for going cross town. It comes with a spare saddle peg, and an extra tusq bridge. The nut appears to be tusq as well. If you use a tuner, plan to purchase a better one than what's in the pack. The flat picks that came with it are lights but are adequate for the type of strings I now use.
Great start

I have a much more expensive Washburn that is more difficult to play. I restringed this and it is much easier. Great guitar for the price. Can't go wrong. I will say you should be prepared to buy a better bag.
generally nice, not perfect in detail

basically speaking, considering its low price, the quality is good. only frustration is the buzz on the first string agaist fret six. tried all means but still be there. Called service and was advised to visit a nearby store to fix. but the technician only works on weekdays. have to squeeze time for it.
EXCELENT!!!
