Awesome Guitar!!!!
So I've had this guitar for a few months now and figured it was time to write a review. I had gone into my local Guitar Center with the intent to look at and possibly purchase either a Highway One or American Standard, as an upgrade to the hotrodded MIM Strat I was currently playing. So I try out a Highway One, and was really not impressed, it neither felt nor sounded any better than my MIM. I tried a couple of different ones and didn't really like any of them. Same with the American Standards. So I see this Blackie hanging on the wall and I say to the sales guy "lemme see that Clapton Strat for a second" Well let me tell you, this thing played and sounded awesome from the start. Action was perfect, neck felt great, pickup response was great, and tone was absolutely fantastic, especially in the bridge/middle position - that classic Clapton sound. Of course I buy it, and now that I have gigged with it about a dozen times, it is my main stage guitar. It just has that "bite" that is awesome for playing live and the boost and TBX are nice features as well. But overall I like this guitar because it is comfortable to play and sounds great. The noiseless pickups are nice - I play through a Peavey Valveking half stack with a Boss OS-2 pedal on the clean channel and the guitar is dead quiet at all gain/distortion levels. One thing to note is that it comes with the tremelo blocked, but for me this was no big deal, I don't use it anyway.

Very poor Quality Finish
When I got this unplayed Clapton signature guitar in '7up' Green....Tweed case...Looked beautiful BUT the finish was appalling. And I mean appalling. It had not been set up and the lacquer on the neck (Fretboard, back to head stock had NOT been rubbed down/cut back!! I spent hours fibishing this what should have been one of Fender's finest. What happened to this one, God only knows. Clapton would be mortified to put his name to it!!! It was worse than any of the Squire/Mexican Far Eastern Strats I have played. Fender you owe me!!! Shame on you!! After many hours finishing it, it is now the guitar it should have been.....and is fantastic, but spending this money for such poor quality made me realise in guitars, as in many retail goods, you pay a premium for the name. I am now more open minded.....Just because it has Fender or Gibson does not mean you get what you pay for. I would now rate this signature Strat 5 star but I shouldn't have had to spend hours finishing/setting up!! This is a proper 'Made in Corona, Calif, 1992......Serial number correct etc. Great pickups, but boy, Fender you owe me and to put Eric's name on it!!!!!!! I bet this reviews doesn't get put on this site!!!

Greatest Strat Ever Made!

I have used Fender Strats since 1970. A new 1970 Strat was my first. I have owned a 1955 Strat, a 1961, 2 1964 Strats and various 1990s Strats and probably 20 Eric Clapton Strat because they are the very best Strat I have ever played, in every single category. I have purchased 3 Clapton Strats from Guitar Center. I've swapped and sold a few because I am down to the 3 Clapton Strats that I use the most on Stage, in The Studio and in practices. I bought the first EC Strat in 1993 and for the last 30 years the EC Strat has been my go to Strat because they are the best electric guitars ever made.
Avoid this product. Very poor quality control.

My Clapton Signature Strat, which I waited 5 1/2 months for (because it was backordered), came with some significant manufacturing defects. When I removed the tremolo cover to replace the battery for the first time, I found double-drilled holes (12 holes instead of 6, one of which was put right through the edge of the body), as well as a battery cavity full of white battery acid (despite the fact that the battery inside was not leaking, meaning, a leaky battery was swapped out BEFORE it shipped, and they didn't bother to clean it out). Upon arrival, it also had an intermittent pick-up switch which shorts out (in the bridge position) unless you jiggle it (though that issue seems to have worked itself out since). Unfortunately I didn't discover the worst of these defects (the 6 extra holes and battery acid) until after 45 days, and now the place where I purchased it wants nothing to do with it. After bringing it to a Fender authorized service center, Fender has agreed to replace the body under warranty. But this part alone is going to take 90-120 days to arrive! Then my new guitar will have to be completely disassembled and reassembled, all because Fender either failed to inspect it properly, or chose to try and sneak it through the channel despite the defects. And now I the customer have to deal with the consequences. I would expect much more from Fender, especially on a $2,000 guitar endorsed by Eric Clapton. Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated about this entire experience. FULL DISCLAIMER: I did NOT purchase via Guitar Center, I purchased it via another Fender-certified online retailer. Maybe Guitar Center would have replaced it for me even after 45 days.

I will be retiring soon and I wanted an Eric Clapton Signature because he is one of my favorites. I look forward to learning more about guitar and improving my skills. I started playing last year when I was 68, never too late. The wonderful feel of the satin neck and the Beautiful tones of this instrument will be inspiring to me.

The pictures show the tremolo bar installed. Eric uses a blocked tremolo, and most sellers state this model is blocked. Is the bar included? Is it installed upon request when ordering?
