Seymour Duncan

collapse expand iconDescription

Seymour Duncan's Vintage Staggered for Stratocaster pickups use hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets and heavy Formvar mag wire with a special wind pattern to produce that bright, glassy, bell tone with all of the bounce and sparkle you would expect from the best Strat pickups from the '50s. The treble attack is crisp and immediate, while the low end remains articulate and focused. Chords ring out with clear note-to-note separation. The three-pickup combination includes a standard wound neck and bridge pickup, and an RWRP, reverse wind reverse polarity, middle pickup for noise cancellation in the in-between positions.

Since 1978, Seymour Dunan's been building all their vintage Fender-style single-coil pickups with the right color and thickness of Forbon flatwork, along with the period-correct magnet stagger. Each pickup comes complete with waxed and tinned cloth pushback hook-up wires and traditional keyed bottom plate. They hand file the flatwork, assemble and lacquer the bobbin just as it was done during Fender’s Golden Age.

The Vintage Staggered for Strat pickups are hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, and are potted in their wax formulation for squeal-free performance. These period-correct vintage output Start pickups deliver all the authentic chime and bell tone enjoyed by Stratocaster players during the '50s.

This is in the neck position of a MIM strat. It has a nice deep clean tone.

This pickup sounds great. I put it in my Squier Bullet Strat because the stock pickups were terrible. It's in the neck position. I love the sound of it. I wanted a pickup that would give me the sound of The Smiths and it exceeded my expectations. It's very bright and chimey. I ordered it in black but for some reason unknown to me, it came in white. I wanted a specific color scheme for my guitar but was denied. I don't know why the lady who ordered it ignored my request. I was never given a reason why it came in the wrong color. Not receiving the pickup in the color that I asked and paid for is my only complaint about this pickup.

I wanted to change the single coil in the bridge of my ESP LTD Kamikaze so with the other Seymour Duncan options, I went with this one. I have not had the opportunity to run it through a tube amp, but so far things are really nice, creamy, a little bluesy. The spacing is a little wider than Floyd Spaced pickups but in the neck position it seems to be fine. <3
