Description

The V250 is a large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone, and, as such, is good for a wide variety of applications, from vocals to room applications to acoustic instruments. The capsule is equipped with a 17 mm diaphragm of 6-micron Mylar on a 20 mm OD backplate and is held together with a brass tension ring. The MXL V250 gives vocals the right mix of power and polish. This true pressure-gradient condenser microphone delivers big, bold vocals with a presence that breaks through the rest of the tracks. And it has a detailed, articulate sound that makes subtle nuances shine. It's where force meets finesse. It's the perfect match for any singer, and it can't miss with acoustic guitars and pianos.

Good overall

Now MXL does not have a good reputation when it comes to mics, but this mic just blew me away! After hooking it up to the Blue Icicle, it sounded mellow and very like the MXL 990. Then I put it on the Behringer Xenyx 802 and it came to life in a second. It has a warm feeling to it with what ever you record. I've never had a single problem when it came to recording with it. It always gave me crisp and clear recordings. The only downside is that you will be able to hear people from the other side the wall very clearly. Your best bet would to isolate it with a box or even put it in a closet.

Mic seemed to work fine, however

The included mic stand attachment was poorly constructed. The mic would not screw in correctly therefore it failed to seat properly and after a few attempts to attach the microphone the mic stand attachment came apart.

    I like this mic i hve two that i have picked up on daily deal sales. I use them for a bluegrass open mic where i just have them kind of capturing the stage sound and everyone is playing acoustic. I also use these for in home recording basic set up for demos and such. They can be fun for capturing room audio at jams, shows and practices to have something to listen back to. great workhorse condenser for the price.

    I got two of these for drum overheads. I got them on a deal of the day price but they're certainly sonically capable of microphones twice their price. They smear just right in the high mids to alleviate some of those annoying frequencies.
