Open Box Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend Soundhole Pickup Level 1

Description
The Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend Soundhole Pickup combines a humbucking magnetic pickup with an internal microphone for unparalleled acoustic amplification. Guitarists can now blend the percussive attack and controlled sustain of the pickup with the resonant, ambient qualities captured by the microphone. Featuring a neodymium magnet structure and discrete circuitry, the Rare Earth Mic Blend provides excellent string-to-string balance and a pure, clean signal.
Hybrid Pickup and Microphone Technology
The Rare Earth Mic Blend incorporates a humbucking pickup alongside a condenser microphone mounted inside the guitar. The magnetic pickup accurately reproduces the initial attack and transient response of each string. Meanwhile, the microphone captures the guitar's natural acoustic resonance and ambient tones. Blending these two signals with an easily accessible control results in a balanced amplified tone that retains the authenticity of the acoustic instrument.
Customizable Tone Control
A rotary blend control allows guitarists to adjust the balance between the pickup and microphone signals to suit their needs. Roll the control towards the pickup for more percussive, controlled tones or towards the microphone for ambient, resonant sounds. With this level of tonal customization at your fingertips, you can achieve the perfect amplified tone for any musical situation.
High Performance and Long Battery Life
Featuring a flexible hypercardioid microphone and switchable microphone bass roll-off, the Rare Earth Mic Blend delivers high volume, feedback-resistant performance. Powered by two included batteries, the pickup provides up to 100 hours of playing time before needing replacement. For superior amplified acoustic tone and hassle-free use, the Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend Soundhole Pickup is an unbeatable choice.

The sound is accurate due to the condenser mic. The added midrange from the magnetic pickup is perfect for single note solos. Not thrilled about the battery location/replacement. (I don't know how else that could've been designed).
I have zero regrets about buying this product.

Produc does what it says. Great solution to amplify my old acoustic I do not want to install a pickup in. Easy to install. Sounds great through Bose S1 Pro Speaker.
Rare Earth Blend Soundhole Pickup, worth the hassle

I've been using the Fishman Rare Earth Blend Sound hole pickup for over three years. I play out a minimum 10 times per month. I use it in conjunction with a Martin 12 String and then through a Bose L1 system and the sound is just fantastic. Keep in mind these are all quality components. I absolutely love the sound of this! the adjustment lets you adjust the Humbucker/mic for a deeper or higher EQ. Regarding mic placement, it doesn't move. Putting it in roughly the center of the produces a beautiful rich sound. Drawbacks? There are a few. No volume control. I have had some feedback issues but can't specifically say it's the pickup. Batteries are hearing aid/watch batteries. Very common but best price I can find is 3 for $10.00. Do not get caught with dead batteries during a gig! It's a P.I.T.A! I change mine when I change my strings-about every 2 months. Or as someone else stated, just before a big gig.I'm going to buy another one for my 1978 Yuri Alvarez DY77 6 string Dreadnought. Replacing a different Fishman sound hole pickup. While there are drawbacks the overall sound is worth it! I'd give it a solid 4 stars.
Loose Goose, Battery Blues, Ho-Hum Humbucker, but Good Mic!

I would like a more substantial goose neck to keep the mic in place. You have to remove the pickup to replace the batteries and they're like watch batteries! After replacing the batteries, then you have to reinstall it and get the mic positioning right again! Do this a few times and the flimsy goose neck might get loose. I worry that even vibrations will move the mic to a less than optimal position, and position does matter! The batteries will need to be replaced especially before important shows, so it will be an ongoing concern. I blend almost all the way to the mic because the humbucker is typical, in need of substantial EQ to make it sound even OK. If there is (and I don't know) just an internal phantom powered mic, that would be better. Then the power source could be external. An external battery source wouldn't be a big deal since you need external controls anyway. I mean it doesn't even have a volume control! I connected it to my L.R. Baggs Para DI, which has volume, EQ, etc. With the external controls I managed to make the humbucker sound a lot better, but it still sounds best blended almost all the way to the mic. Having said all this, the mic is good, so I give it 3 stars.

Can this be used without the batteries if connected to an external preamp?
No, it can't. You need to get signal to the preamp.
