Fender changed the original 8250s that came stock with the American J Bass ? Easy on the fingers, light and quick for Jazz licks. Now they're heavy and thick, great if you play speed metal with a pick maybe .

These strings are great. I have tried other strings from time to time but none gave me the great Fender sound I get with these strings. I have seen some others complain that the taperwound is a bit different than it used to be, and that is true, but a few minor adjustments to the saddles to compensate for the string diameter and you are all set. Besides, you would need to make that adjustment for any other brand of string too. These strings sound great.

tried these on my 2010 Amer Jazz (same as came on it)- too heavy- too tight... going back to Roto's!! I've determined that Fender strings are too tight and too dull (stick with making instruments)
