Electro-harmonix POG2

Electro-Harmonix POG 2 video demo from MusicRadar

Description
Electro-Harmonix's POG2 Polyphonic octave generator effects pedal gives guitarists and bassists alike a portal into lush new sonic dimensions. This innovative pedal allows you to mix in up to five polyphonic octave harmonics to create a jaw-dropping array of tones, from shimmering and chimey to thick and heavy. The POG2 features an enhanced algorithm for focused, accurate tracking, as well as an Attack control to fade in harmonics smoothly and subtly. Save your favorite mind-bending sounds in one of eight presets to unleash at the perfect moment.
Five Polyphonic Octaves for A Massive Tonal Palette
With the ability to blend in up to five octave harmonics at once, the POG2 provides an unparalleled tonal palette for creative guitarists. Add in a sub-octave for a bassy rumble, a lower octave for extra thickness, even higher octaves for a jangly chime. Or combine multiple octaves at different levels for a harmonically rich wash of sound. The options are endless.
Programmable Presets for Instant Inspiration
When you stumble upon a tone that inspires you, save it to one of eight presets for instant recall. The POG2's presets allow you to save your favorite octave harmonics, Attack and Q settings to be unleashed again at the stomp of a footswitch. With presets at the ready, you'll never lose that spark of inspiration again.
Sculpt Your Tone With Attack and Q Controls
Shape your octave tones further with the POG2's Attack and Q controls. The Attack slider lets you set the fade-in speed of the octave harmonics for smooth, swelling layers of sound. Meanwhile, the Q control adjusts the bandwidth of the pedal's lowpass filter, allowing you to cut high-end sizzle for a rounder tone or boost highs for extra definition.
Built for Flawless Performance
The POG2 features an enhanced DSP algorithm for polyphonic glitch-free tracking so you can rest assured that each note and chord will sound full, in-tune and harmonically rich. Its rugged die-cast chassis is built to handle the rigors of travel and performance. Power it with a 9V DC power supply for studio, stage and anywhere in between.

Acoustic Tones
I have tried many octave and phase shifting pedals, but nothing has come close to the clarity and variety of the POG 2. In film score, I like to apply electric effects to acoustic instruments and this pedal doesn't have the digital overtones of other octave pedals. I can get unbelievable swells (Steve Morse, Eric Johnson) and cinematic feedback with an acoustic guitar using the LP Filter and Detune vs. the multiple combinations of the Octave array. It is also very easy to use for the complexities of its sound.

Great sounding pedal but hard to press and clicks...
Great pedal with all kinds of sounds. However the only problem I have with it is that the bypass switch is extremely hard to activate and you can hear an audible click through your amp when activating. Also whenever you click on it if you have a delay or reverb on down your pedal chain the click will pick up the delay and reverb and sound terrible. I thought maybe it was just my pedal but after reading reviews online it appears it's a common issue with this pedal or I would just exchange it for another. I have found an aftermarket mod that is supposed to correct the issue. Hopefully it'll help! But keep in mind this is just a minor issue that can be worked around (such as keeping it in your "dry" signal when running stereo. I still love this pedal and the sounds I can get out of it.

I bought this pedal to help create guitar sounds coupled with a Boss line switcher that allows me to play like a guitar through one signal, and my bass through the other or both at the same time. Add some fuzz and it is awesome!
Awesome!!!!

Only for momentary use

I intended on using this unit to -1 octave on the 3 lowest strings on my acoustic guitar. I have successfully isolated the low E, A and D strings on a separate pic up and pre-amp. When it works it sounds better than any other octave pedal I've tried. BUT, this thing operates for 5-8 songs then the effect fades and goes silent, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A PERFORMANCE, YIKES!!! Electro Harmonix Fixed it a couple times, but after a while the problem comes back. They said something about the power supplies are not designed for continuous use of these high power effects, just momentary solos. Turns out, no octave pedals I've tried can stand up to 3-4 hours continuous use. Come on Electro H. Solve this problem.

For such an expensive pedal EHX should have better quality control. With the "Q" setting on 3, cycling through the "Dry FX" setting causes the whole pedal to momentarily shut down and a huge "pop" to go through my system. It then has to be unplugged and replugged for anything to work. EHX says they will look at it for $25 and then $12 S&H. Seriously disappointed with how unreliable EHX products are.
