ESP FRX CTM FR Electric Guitar Apex Green Burst
Description
The ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) is a visionary electric guitar that pushes the boundaries of craftsmanship and tone, staking its claim as one of 12 exclusive Exhibition Limited instruments showcased at the winter NAMM Show in 2024. Master luthiers from the ESP Custom Shop in Tokyo designed this stunning piece to be as much a work of art as a high-performance guitar, displaying coveted wood stocks and specialized building techniques. While the distinct FRX body shape remains as menacing as ever, this one-of-a-kind rendition was uniquely inspired by the theme of “holiness”—the result of numerous meetings at ESP to finalize this guitar’s backstory. From its three-dimensional quilted maple top to the masterfully crafted “celestial horse” inlay, the ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) is an artistic imagining of the heavens in electric guitar form.
Beveled FRX Body in Gorgeous Apex Green Burst
Lightly colored tonewoods were deliberately chosen for the FRX CTM FR’s body as a basis for its theme. Classy jasper was chosen for the back and cut thicker than a standard FRX to incorporate additional beveling, while an exemplary piece of quilted maple was selected for the top. Despite its extra depth, the guitar remains comfortably lightweight, and the beveled arches on the jasper back lend themselves to a thinner neck heel for enhanced upper-fret access. Finally, the rippling, deeply figured quilt top is finished in a natural-to-green burst representing a fictionalized stylization of the skies above. Between the top’s inherent arches and curves, and the quilted maple’s breathtaking richness, the ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) creates a sense of the infinite.
Intricate “Horse From Heaven” Unicorn Inlay
The wildly intricate fretboard inlay depicts the moment a winged horse gallops freely through the clouds, illuminated by boundless sunlight. Black and white ebony forms the backdrop, though several types of wood and shellfish were employed to meticulously craft the celestial creature. Given the limited canvas space, the level of detail shown in the unicorn’s musculature and wings is nothing short of astounding. The ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) is the epitome of artistry within luthiery.
Slim U-Shape Neck Begs to Be Played
Museum quality aside, the ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) is a guitar, after all—this one’s an especially mythic beast, ready to soar with superior speed and playability. Its slim U-shape purpleheart neck with a flat 400 mm radius caters to players of hard rock and metal persuasion, if the aggressively hewn FRX silhouette wasn’t already a giveaway. Heel-less set-thru neck construction provides unimpeded access to shred registers for those who dare to fly, and the consistency of the U-shape neck carve is comfortable from the first to the 24th fret.
Custom Seymour Duncan Hybrid Pickups
The Exhibition Limited ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) features a pair of Seymour Duncan Custom Shop hybrid pickups, each combining coils from different models to create one humbucker—a ’59/JB in the bridge and ’59/Jazz in the neck. Duncan ’59s are classic P.A.F.-style pickups ideal for vintage blues and rock tones, with a sound that’s open and detailed. The Jazz neck/JB bridge combo is one of the most popular and versatile pairings in the Seymour Duncan catalog. The former provides glassy highs and tight lows for articulate neck position voicings, while the latter offers hot-rodded humbucking tones with full bass, crisp highs and a pushed upper midrange. Cover vast sonic horizons with the ESP FRX CTM FR’s custom Seymour Duncan windings.
The ESP FRX CTM FR (EX24-10) represents the apex of wood selection, hardware, electronics and craftsmanship. It’s an astonishing instrument designed to inspire you with its tone and captivate you with its beauty. For musicians and collectors seeking a work of art that pushes creative boundaries, the FRX CTM FR quite literally delivers an experience like no other, as a one-of-one guitar straight from the ESP master luthiers in Tokyo. Get a glimpse of the empyrean in this FRX’s otherworldly visage.
