The Gibson Generation Collection acoustic guitars are created to give more artists access to the beloved Gibson tone. Tiara Thomas learned to play music on a $100 guitar, and with it she wrote a future for herself as an authentic voice in the hip-hop and R&B worlds. She’s been putting out songs since 2013 when she released “Bad” in collaboration with Wale (which went on to be recorded by Rihanna). Not only does Thomas put out music under her own name, she pens hits for other artists as well, receiving a 2018 Grammy for contributions to H.E.R. (R&B Album of the year).
Tiara Thomas usually plays a Gibson Hummingbird (gifted to her by Timbaland), so we invited her to check out the new Gibson G-45 Studio and Standard acoustics and give her first impressions. She played us a little of her career-breaking hit, shared some thoughts about how the acoustic guitar inspires her creativity, and talked about why she loves Gibson guitars.
Hand-built in Bozeman, Montana using classic techniques, the G-45 Studio has a slim modern body and Advanced Response neck profile. A solid Sitka spruce top and solid walnut back deliver excellent projection and the built-in Fishman Sonitone pickup makes it stage-ready and studio-friendly.
The G-45 Standard is the next step up with a gloss top finish, dense Richlite fingerboard, Soft Diamond inlays, and top and back binding.
